Evolutionary elastics
Human progress is both a glorious accident and a burden while it brings about alienation from where we came from.
We suffer from an exodus from animal paradise.
Human systems both benefit and suffer from evolutionary elastics.
We have become Gods and Goddesses on and of this Earth.
With every new (technological) invention/improvement our evolutionary elastics with our mammal past are stretched a bit further. And we become a little bit more alienated from our animal roots.
‘Getting back to the place we were before‘ (Eagles ‘Hotel California’ 1972) is what we need to keep our sanity as persons and as social systems.
The Akan people in Ghana have known this already for a very long time and express and rememder this with the symbol of Sankofa: go back, get it to go further.
Making music and cracking cosmic jokes will do too.
